CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - An emergency order remained in effect in a northern Nevada community where a wildfire grew to almost 2 square miles and briefly threatened homes in the Smith Valley area during the weekend.
Federal Bureau of Land Management spokeswoman Kirsten Cannon
said Monday that firefighters protected a cabin but lost two abandoned structures to flames in the Burbank Fire.
Correcting earlier reports, Cannon says two firefighters were treated for smoke inhalation and dehydration after a separate structure fire - not the wildfire.
Lyon County Manager Jeff Page says he saw burned trees and scorched propane tanks, but no homes damaged when he drove through an area where residents voluntarily left about 40 houses over the weekend.
The fire was reported about 4 p.m. Friday. The cause wasn't immediately determined.
