CARSON CITY, NV - A man is in a hospital after leading sheriff's deputies on a low-speed chase.
It all started around 1 a.m. Thu., in downtown Carson City after deputies received reports that a customer at a bar was threatening other customers with a gun and a knife.
As deputies arrived, they say suspect James Fowler was leaving in a white Ford van.
Deputies tried to pull Fowler over, but he continued, leading deputies on a low-speed chase into Lyon County through to Stagecoach.
At this point, Lyon County deputies took over the chase and used a spike strip to bring Fowler and his van to a stop.
After a twenty-minute standoff, Fowler exited his van and deputies overpowered him. Deputies say he may have wanted them to shoot him as part of a suicide-by-cop move.
Fowler was transported to a Carson city hospital to be evaluated and has been charged with two counts of assault with deadly weapon, DUI, threats and eluding police.
