CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - Carson City sheriff's deputies say they are investigating a possible homicide with the discovery of a partially decomposed body in a field on the southeast side of town near Silver Saddle Ranch.

Sheriff's Capt. Ken Sandage says a couple came upon the body Saturday afternoon while walking their dog west of the ranch off Carson River Road.

Sandage says the body appears to have been there for at least a week. He told the Nevada Appeal they secured the area and collected evidence as they do with the scene of any suspicious death or homicide.

An autopsy indicates the body is that of a female, but there was no ID with the body, and the cause of death still isn't clear. That will wait for results of toxicology tests, which could take several weeks.
