ELKO, Nev. (AP) - The California Trail Interpretive Center near Elko has a new manager.
Gary Koy was promoted from supervisory park ranger at the trail center to manager early this month.
Before coming to Elko, he was assistant director of the National Historic Oregon Trail Interpretive Center in Baker City, Ore.
The Nevada facility, located along Interstate 80 some eight miles west of Elko, is operated by the U.S. Bureau of Land Management.
The $20 million federal facility is devoted to telling the story of the covered-wagon pioneers' overland journey during the California Gold Rush.
A grand opening ceremony for it was held in June.
It's the BLM's third pioneer trail center and the first federal facility devoted exclusively to the California Trail.
