Burglary Suspect Apprehended After Chase In South Lake Tahoe

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, CA - On, Tuesday, June 3rd, 2014, the South Lake Tahoe Police Department received numerous calls stating a residence was being broken into on Bonanza Avenue.

When police arrived on scene they saw the suspect carrying bags of stolen items from the residence. A chase ensued near D Street and U.S. Highway 50 where the suspect attempted to pull a gun.

The suspect lost control of the semiautomatic 9mm pistol, which was loaded with a high capacity magazine and was apprehended without any shots being fired.

The identity of the suspect is currently being investigated because he provided false information to authorities. The investigation determined the house that was burglarized was an illegal marijuana grow house.

The suspect is being held on charges of illegal possession of a firearm, armed burglary and robbery.

One police officer was hurt during the event and was taken to the emergency room.
