ELKO, Nev. (AP) - The Bureau of Land Management is seeking public comment on a proposal to link the Ruby Pipeline to a mine site in northern Elko County.
The BLM says a 24-mile natural gas line would run from a main line valve on the Ruby Pipeline near Willow Creek Reservoir to a Barrick Goldstrike mill.
Agency officials say they've been coordinating with Sacramento-based Energy Operations Management to identify a route that would minimize affects to sage grouse leks, as well as cultural and natural resources.
The company is asking for a temporary, 80-foot wide right of way over public lands for construction. It seeks a permanent right of way of 30 feet once built.
An environmental assessment is being developed, and public comments will be accepted through Feb. 29.
