RENO, Nev. -- Carson City Sheriff's officials made a long-awaited arrest in the death of toddler Justin Watson.

The incident happened on Saturday, November 10th, 2012 at a home in the 2200 block of E. Long St. in Carson City.

Early in the investigation, Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong said the boy lived there with his father, later identified as Nic Watson, and the father's girlfriend, later identified as Brittany Michelle Paugh. Furlong said Paugh was there when the toddler was found unconscious but Watson was not.

The toddler was taken to Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center then transported to a hospital in Reno where he remained on life support for several days before he died.

At the time, Sheriff Furlong predicted the investigation would be lengthy. He says investigators had an expert in California examine evidence relating the child's injuries and those results recently came in.

Furlong says Sheriff's Office officials attempted to arrest Paugh Thursday, May 30th, 2013 but could not find her. She turned herself in later that night.

A representative at the Carson City jail says she is facing 2nd Degree Murder charges in addition to Child Abuse with Bodily Injury charges.
