LAS VEGAS (AP) - Republican Mark Amodei is firing back at
Democratic rival Kate Marshall in a pair of new TV ads that come after he's avoided mentioning her for weeks.
The two ads released Thursday claim Marshall lost Nevada money in her role as state treasurer and that she has lied about Amodei's record on Medicare.
One of the ads features Amodei's mother.
Amodei and Marshall are competing in Nevada's Sept. 13 special
election to fill a vacant House seat.
Republican Sen. Dean Heller is also helping Amodei. Heller told The Associated Press Wednesday that he wants Amodei to succeed him.
Heller represented northern Nevada in the House until he was appointed to the Senate in May to replace Republican Sen. John Ensign. Ensign resigned over a sex scandal.
