Free Swimming in Sun Valley

Kids swim free in Sun Valley this weekend.

The Sun Valley Pool, which was built in 1981, has new solar panels, pumps and pipes thanks to a Community Development Block Grant through the state. Officials from Sun Valley GID and Washoe County have been working for more than a year to keep the pool open and up to code.

Friday afternoon a ribbon cutting ceremony reopened the facility to the public. Despite warm weather, thunderstorms threatening the area meant no swimming. Instead, 200 special guests from the Boys & Girls Club were treated to cake and punch. The pool will be open to the public between noon and 5:00 PM Tuesday through Sunday for the rest of the season. Adult admission is $4.50; kids get in for $3.50. For more information about swimming classes and group prices call (775) 673-0754.
