A feathered friend in Sparks is under the watchful eye of an industrial pillowmaker. And this duck is lucky to be alive, after laying a clutch of eggs in the middle of a construction site!
Manager Jim Burns says construction crews are digging up and repaving the alley next door. In the center of the project... a small bush... a mother duck... and ten eggs. Instead of shooing away the bird, crews worked around the duck, to keep her and her eggs safe.
Meantime Jim's employees fed her cheerios and donated pillow stuffing to help out with the nest. When it became too difficult to move forward, Naisbitt Construction put the project on hold. The company says it'll wait until the eggs hatch before finishing up.
