A strong spring storm system has blown its way into Northern Nevada, prompting high wind warnings and blowing dust advisories. Rain is expected to turn to snow on the valley floor Tuesday. In Washoe Valley campers and other high-profile vehicles have been prohibited, but that’s not the only place where gusting winds have caused problems. On I-80 blowing dust and debris is limiting visibility for drivers, as wind pushes and tugs at vehicles.
Reno Tahoe International Airport is seeing some delays due to the high winds. Two flights to Reno from Dallas were canceled Monday, and another diverted to Sacramento. That caused a chain reaction of cancellations as well. Airport officials say more delays and cancellations may be in store for Tuesday, as the stormy weather is expected to grow in strength.
