While some movie theaters are still raising ticket prices, Drive-Ins like El Rancho in Sparks are a good bargain, and a memorable experience for families. Before the gates open Friday, crews spent hours getting ready for the season. The movie screens have been repainted to improve picture quality, and they’ve added Dolby digital sound.
Opening day was a little earlier this year than last. The cars of eager viewers lined the roadway, waiting for the box office to open at 6:45 PM. “How to Train Your Dragon” was the big draw on opening day, but many people say going to the Drive-In is about more than the show. They say it’s about spending quality time with the family.
It’s also an economical way to see a show. Adult admission is only $6.25, kids 5-11 are just $1.00, and kids under five are free. If that’s still too much, come on Tuesday. That’s when adult admission drops to just $4.25, still one low price for two first run movies.
