SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) - San Jose firefighters are on the scene of a fire that has consumed a house listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
A fire at a Victorian house known as the Donner House was first reported around 4:00 this morning.
Firefighters have the fire contained, but continued to pour water on the two-story building as it continues to smolder.
Built in 1881, the house was placed on the list of National Register of Historic Places in 2002. The building gets its name because it was once the home of one of the survivors of the Donner Party.
