ELY, Nev. (AP) - The White Pine County sheriff is identifying an Ely City Council member as a person of interest in a probe of money missing from a bank where he worked.
Sheriff Dan Watts said Thursday that Stephen Marich has not been charged with a crime.
But Watts says more than $30,000 might be unaccounted for from the First National Bank of Ely and he's turned over the probe his office began Dec. 10 to the FBI.
A clerk at the bank said Thursday that Marich no longer works there, and messages left for him at the bank and city weren't immediately returned.
Marich's wife is the chief of the U.S. attorney's office in Reno. The sheriff says investigators don't believe she's involved at all.
