Get your pet vaccinated or micro-chipped for a fraction of the usual price this weekend. The rabies clinic, hosted by Reno’s SPCA not just a good deal, it’s a fundraiser for a Sun Valley woman battling cancer. Susan Moore was first diagnosed with the disease in 2006.
Despite the efforts of doctors so far, the cancer has metastasized growing into her bones, and even developing in her brain. Before her illness, Susan worked as an animal control officer. The disease has forced her to take medical retirement, leaving the family with no other source of income. Her friends at the SPCA are hoping to relieve some of that financial stress with this weekend’s fundraiser.
The event takes place on Saturday, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the SPCA on 5th and Wells. Shots are $10.00; micro-chips are available for $12.00. The fundraiser also features a silent auction. If you are unable to attend, but would like to help the Moore family, a fund has been established at Wells Fargo. Donations can be made to account # 9270972277.
