SPARKS, NV - Reno's Sears store at Meadowood Mall is taking donations this weekend to help the family of the 5-year-old boy who was hit and killed with an SUV Monday night.

The accident happened around 8PM on Baring Boulevard near Shadow Lane. Logan Gorkish was taken to Renown Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Police say the boy and another child may have run northbound across the east and westbound lanes of Baring when he was hit by the SUV. Police say the driver stopped and is cooperating with the investigation. His name is being withheld.

Police don't believe alcohol is a factor in the accident.

Anyone who witnessed the accident is encouraged to contact the Sparks Police Dept. Traffic Section at 353-2432.

All weekend during normal store hours, you can donate at any register at the Meadowood Sears.

Also, a fundraising website has been established to help the victim's family with expenses; a link is attached to this story.
