RENO, Nevada (KOLOTV.com) -- A deputy with the Washoe County Sheriff's office opened fire on a man who was stopped early Wednesday morning.
Around 2:30 a.m., a sheriff and two deputies on patrol passed an abandoned car on Winnemucca Ranch Road. Because of recent reports of squatters, the patrol checked out a nearby residence they knew to be abandoned.
As they approached the house, a man jumped out of the second floor. He brandished what authorities thought was a weapon. At that time one of the deputies fired at the man, after which the suspect ran away. It is unknown if he was hit.
A search for that man is now underway. The search perimeter is between Pyramid Highway, Winnemucca Ranch Road, and Rangeland Road.
He is described as a white male, about 6'0" tall, 150 to 180 pounds, with dark blonde hair.
Authorities say that they have his track, but were unwilling to elaborate.
