FERNLEY, Nev. (AP) - Nevada Highway Patrol officials say a Silver Springs man was driving a van at a very high speed before rolling it on a two-lane highway south of Fernley.
Trooper Chuck Allen says 43-year-old driver David B. Spencer and his 44-year-old passenger Samantha K. Ton of Silver Springs were airlifted to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno with serious
injuries after the crash about 11 a.m. Monday.
Troopers say Spencer failed to negotiate a turn on U.S. 50 Alternate and veered into the opposite lanes before leaving the road, hitting a barbed wire fence and launching into the air.
The Mercury Villager van rolled over several times before coming to rest on its roof.
Ton was ejected from the van.
Troopers say no other vehicles were involved.
