RENO, Nev. (AP) - The mother of an autistic boy has filed a federal lawsuit against Washoe County School District officials, claiming they failed to protect the boy and didn't report that he had been raped twice by another student in a bathroom.
The suit filed in U.S. District Court also names as defendants a special education counselor and teacher at Sparks Middle School, as well as the alleged attacker's parents.
School officials say the incident was handled properly.
The suit claims the incident happened in January of last year. It seeks more than $100,000 in damages.
