The much anticipated, $1.2 billion Legends at Sparks Marina project has hit a stumbling block. 15 to 20 stores originally scheduled to open this fall have delayed their grand openings until Spring of 2009.
Project Manager, Dennis Mcgovern says construction at the site is on track, but a slow economy has influenced the decision of some retailers to delay their move in dates.
Meanwhile, sporting goods store Scheels is set to open September 27th. They are already working on the finishing touches, including adding hundreds of exotic salt water fish to a 16 thousand gallon tank.
Scheels will virtually stand alone in this shopping center for a number of months, except for a Target store scheduled to open its doors on October 7th. Construction managers say the public is encouraged to come inside the Legends project while work continues. They will be taking extra steps to make sure it's safe for customers to check out both.
