A 19-year-old college student is trying to become the youngest county commissioner ever elected in the Las Vegas-area.
KLAS-TV reports Wesley Cornwell has declared his candidacy for the Clark County Commission election in June 2012.
The Rancho High School graduate says he wanted to get a head start on the campaign trail.
Cornwell is a junior at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where he is studying criminal justice.
If Cornwell wins, he'll be the only Republican on the commission.
