Nevada Gets Low Ranking in Preschool Enrollment Report

RENO (AP) - According to a new report, Nevada ranks near the bottom nationally in the number of 4-year-olds enrolled in preschool.

The study by the New Jersey-based National Institute for Early Education Research shows that only 2 percent of Nevada's 4-year-olds are in preschool, ranking Nevada 36th out of 38 states that fund preschool.

Only 1 percent of all 3-year-olds in Nevada attended preschool, ranking the state last out of 26 states that serve children of that age.

Nevada has about 72,000 children between the ages of 3 and 4.
