GARDNERVILLE, Nev. (AP) - A 27-year-old transient who claimed he was under the influence of demons when he robbed Bank of America branch in Douglas County has been sentenced to up to 15 years in prison.
District Judge Tod Young sentenced Jarell Williams on Tuesday to five to 15 years on a robbery charge and five to 15 years for making threats or conveying false information considering acts of terrorism or weapons of mass destruction.
The (Gardnerville) Record Courier reports that the judge ruled Williams can serve the two terms concurrently.
Williams admitted robbing the Bank of America Topsy branch on Jan. 4. Police say he entered the bank and demanded $260,000 or said he would blow up the bank. He was arrested a short time later and the money was recovered.
