Aunt of Reno Boy Involved in Hit & Run Cited

RENO, Nev. (AP) - The aunt of a 13-year-old Reno boy involved in a hit-and-run accident has been cited on suspicion of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Meanwhile, authorities say 77-year-old Roy Avery remains hospitalized after he was struck by the underage driver last Thursday.

According to police, the boy had asked his 23-year-old aunt, who also is his guardian, if he could go to a friend's home, and Beatriz Serrano-Robles tossed him the keys.

Authorities say after the accident, a man identifying himself as the boy's uncle said he was the driver who ran from the scene, but witnesses disputed that and later identified the boy as the driver.

The youth was booked into the Jan Evans Juvenile Justice Center on charges of felony hit and run, failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk and having no driver's license.
