RENO, Nevada (KOLOTV.com) -- Unemployment in the Silver State continues to smash records. It also continues to be the highest in the nation.
The Nevada Department of Employment, Training, and Rehabilitation says the 14.4% seasonally-adjusted rate for August 2010 is one-tenth of a percent higher than the previous month.
Also for August 2010, the Reno-Sparks Metropolitan Statistical Area unemployment rate came in at 13.3%, while the Carson City MSA was 13.1% -- both significantly lower than the state rate. The Las Vegas MSA was the opposite, hitting 14.7%.
The DETR says roughly 192,000 people were out of work in the state in August. Almost 74% of those (142,000) were in the Las Vegas area.
