BEAR, Del. (AP) - Police have cited a Florida truck driver after several sorority sisters were injured when a bus carrying about 40 people overturned in a crash in Delaware.
State police say the crash occurred around 10 p.m. Thursday at an intersection in Bear, south of Wilmington, when a tractor trailer ran a red light and hit the bus. Police say the driver, 26-year-old Roberto Figueroa-Gomez of Miami, was issued a summons for failing to stop at a red light.
University of Delaware spokesman John Brennan says the students on the bus were Phi Sigma Sigma sorority members on their way to a party.
State police say nine passengers were taken to the hospital and two were admitted with injuries that were not considered life threatening. Others were driven to area medical centers.
