OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says at least seven people are dead after a head-on collision near the town of Elmwood in the Oklahoma Panhandle.
Highway Patrol Capt. Chris West says a Chevrolet Suburban traveled left of center along Highway 412 early Wednesday and slammed head-on into a van. West says early reports indicate both drivers were killed, along with five others.
He says the accident still is being investigated, but that the Suburban was traveling at a high rate of speed.
Elmwood is located in Beaver County in the Oklahoma Panhandle, less than 10 miles from the Texas state line.
