BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - A man who pleaded guilty to killing his neighbor in 1999 has been released from prison without telling where he dumped the body.

Forty-eight-year-old Steve Thomas was convicted of manslaughter in the death of 82-year-old Norman Limesand of Marion.

Thomas was sentenced in 2007 to the maximum 10 years in prison, and his plea agreement called for him to face a murder charge if he was uncooperative in finding the body.

Authorities say that Thomas took part in searches and agreed to hypnosis, but he can't remember where the body is. Thomas was released from prison Saturday.

Thomas claimed that Limesand was killed during a hunting accident.

The farmer's family says it was over a water drainage dispute and that Thomas got away with murder.
