HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Investigators say the much-anticipated report into the Newtown, Conn., school massacre is expected to be released this fall.

Danbury State's Attorney Stephen J. Sedensky III and Chief State's Attorney Kevin Kane met Tuesday morning with Gov. Dannel P. Malloy's chief of staff. They discussed the investigation into the Dec. 14 massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown.

In a written statement, the prosecutors said Sedensky expects to issue his report "in the fall." They did not provide further details on the investigation.

Sedensky estimated in January the probe could be finished this summer, perhaps June. In May, state police said it could take until September.

A lone gunman, 20-year-old Adam Lanza, killed 20 children and six women at the school on Dec. 14 before committing suicide. He also killed his mother at their home.
