AKRON, Ohio (AP) - The lone survivor of a deadly plot to lure victims with phony Craigslist job offers testified in Ohio against the teenage defendant and identified him as an accomplice.
Forty-nine-year-old Scott Davis was the star witness in Akron as the prosecution began presenting its aggravated murder case Friday against 17-year-old Brogan Rafferty.
Davis sold his South Carolina business last year to take an Ohio farm job closer to his family in the Canton area.
Davis identified Rafferty as being at a restaurant breakfast meeting before Davis was shot. He survived by running and hiding in the woods in southeast Ohio for seven hours.
Under cross-examination by the defense, Davis said Rafferty's co-defendant, Richard Beasley, had directed arrangements for the farm visit.
Three men were killed in the scam.
