DENVER (AP) - The judge in the Colorado theater shooting case says items found in defendant James Holmes' car can be used as evidence in his trial.
Police say they found an iPhone and handgun inside the car, which was parked behind the theater.
Arapahoe (uh-RAP'-uh-hoh) County District Judge Carlos Samour hasn't yet ruled whether prosecutors can use the contents of the phone, which include photos of Holmes with bright reddish-orange hair holding firearms.
Earlier Friday, the judge limited the use of statements Holmes made to detectives after he was taken to the police station. The statements have never been publicly disclosed, so it's not known how significant they are to the case.
Holmes has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity to charges of killing 12 people and injuring 70 in the 2012 attack.
