Instagram Says It Won't Sell Your Pictures

NEW YORK, NY- One day after Instagram said it would sell users' photos to advertisers, the company backtracked. According to CNN Money, Instagram won't sell your pictures after all after massive user backlash.

The company's new terms of use, that was going to take effect on January 16, had numerous changes including the section about user's rights. In the terms of use it said, "A business or other entity may pay in connection with paid or sponsored content or promotions, without any compensation to you." But Instagram says that statement will be updated so it'll be less confusing and they never intended to sell your pictures.

Basically they want to do something similar to Facebook's "sponsored stories" where if a business wanted to promote its Instagram account, and you "follow" the business, the site might use your profile photo in a message telling your friends about your endorsement.
