BOSTON (AP) - The former partner of James "Whitey" Bulger is telling jurors that the two were FBI informants for more than a decade as they ran a feared gang in South Boston.
Stephen "The Rifleman" Flemmi began testifying Thursday in Bulger's racketeering trial. He says they gave information to the FBI for about 15 years beginning in 1975.
The 83-year-old Bulger is accused of participating in 19 killings during the 1970s and '80s. Flemmi, who's 79, pleaded guilty to 10 murders and agreed to testify against Bulger. He is serving a life sentence.
The two hadn't seen each other since 1994. They had a tense exchange just before Flemmi was led from the courtroom, with Flemmi standing with his hands on his hips and staring at Bulger.
Flemmi is to continue testifying Friday.
