IRVING, Texas (AP) - At least two people are dead and some three dozen others are hurt after a charter bus veered off a Texas highway and flipped onto its side.
The bus had been headed to an Oklahoma casino. It was traveling near the Dallas-Fort Worth airport this morning when witnesses say it suddenly weaved across the highway, struck a concrete barrier and toppled over into the center median.
One passenger tells the Dallas Morning News, "We ended up swirling and weaving and then ended up on the side." He calls it a "traumatic situation to say the least."
Daniel Risik says most people aboard the bus weren't wearing seat belts. He says the approximately 45 people on the bus were "piled on top of each other" after the crash. Rescuers arrived, he says, and started pulling people through the roof emergency hatch.
State polilce confirm that two people were killed. Hospital officials said about three dozen others were being treated at area hospitals, including many with fractured bones.
