FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) - The FBI says a Colorado man suspected of kidnapping his former fiancee has been shot and killed by Fort Collins police.

Authorities launched a manhunt for Dennis Gene Cox after they discovered the missing woman unharmed in a Wyoming hotel Friday. Julie Ann Kilgore was found hiding under a desk in the lobby.

Cox had checked into the Laramie hotel Thursday and had fled just before police arrived. Fort Collins Police say officers shot him Friday afternoon on a downtown street near a bus station after he pointed a gun at them.

The family of the woman had called authorities after she left her Brighton, Colo. home with Cox Tuesday. They became worried because she had left a 7-year-old niece alone.
