CHICAGO (AP) - A Chicago investment banker says he might make a
bid for the bankrupt Sun-Times Media Group.
James Tyree is chairman of Mesirow (MEZ-uh-roh) Financial
Holdings but says that company would not be part of the deal.
Instead, Tyree says he's putting together a group to bid on the
Sun-Times Media Group filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy
reorganization at the end of March. It has struggled with falling
advertising revenue, though circulation has held steady.
Tyree says he's reviewing the company's books but the potential
bid group is not yet in place.
He says he would keep the Chicago Sun-Times and the suburban
papers and Web sites that the company owns.
He also says he anticipates competition from other bidders.
