FARGO, N.D. (AP) - A newlywed couple in Fargo, North Dakota, is
living proof of a passage from the Bible's Song of Solomon: "Many
waters cannot quench love; rivers cannot wash it away."
That's the verse Nathan and Brittney Aakre (AH'-kree) had printed on their invitations months ago, when they invited more than 500 people to their wedding at Fargo's First Assembly of God Church.
Then the Red River rose toward a record flood crest and the church became a sandbag-making center, so Nathan and Brittany worked the phones and found a local hotel that could accommodate them.
The bride's father, the Reverend Cal Thompson, married them as planned yesterday morning in the hotel's conference room. Seventy
guests made it for the ceremony.
Thompson says the Bible verse on the wedding invitations was prophetic, and convinces him that his daughter and her husband were
meant for each other.
