Republicans, Democrats says Jindal not ready for prime time

NEW YORK (AP) - Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal isn't winning over many pundits with his performance on Tuesday.

Some of the kinder descriptions from political pundits have included insane, childish and a disaster. Jindal delivered the Republican response to President Barack Obama's speech to Congress on Tuesday night.

David Brooks describes Jindal's complaints about the Obama's economic stimulus as tone-deaf, given the country's dire economic circumstances. On PBS' "The NewsHour With Jim Lehrer," the conservative New York Times columnist called Jindal's "you can't trust the federal government" argument "stale" and "a disaster for the Republican Party."

Fox News commentator Juan Williams said Jindal "came off as amateurish" and panned his "singsongy" delivery. Williams didn't like the content of Jindal's speech either, calling it "simplistic and almost childish."
