Clinton to Asia: US Under New Management

JAKARTA, Indonesia (AP) - Secretary of State Hillary Rodham
Clinton is spreading the word in Asia that the U.S. is under new
management.

In Indonesia, the world's most populous Muslim nation, she met
with the country's president and appeared on a youth-oriented TV
show drawing cheers when she said she brought greetings from
President Barack Obama.

While there was banter about her singing ability and about her
love of the Beatles and Rolling Stones, she also touched on more
serious issues. Clinton said Washington wants to address Muslim
concerns about U.S. policy in the Middle East.

She said the U.S. appointed a special envoy to deal with the
Israeli-Palestinian conflict immediately after taking office
because the U.S. had not been as active as it should have been.

Clinton praised Indonesia for its efforts to fight terrorism
while respecting human rights and for its hard-won multiethnic
democracy.
