CLIFTON, N.J. (AP) - Five fortunate organ recipients are meeting the New Jersey family whose loss became their gain.
They were attending a memorial service Sunday for 25-year-old Dennis John Mallosseril. He died in a shooting at the St. Thomas Syrian Orthodox Knanaya Church in Clifton last November.
His heart, liver, both kidneys, pancreas and lungs were donated. The five recipients attended the memorial and had an emotional meeting with the family.
Fifty-seven-year-old James O'Hea said if he hadn't gotten the heart transplant, he might have died within a month.
Mallosseril's family said they are glad that something good came out of their son's death.
