CLEVELAND (AP) - The Coast Guard says several hundred people are
trapped on a slab of ice about 8 miles wide that has broken free
and is floating away from the Ohio shoreline of Lake Erie.
Coast Guard Petty Officer George Degener says several ships and
helicopters from Toledo and Marblehead, Ohio, are attempting to
rescue the people from the ice floe.
