Hearst named publisher of Albany, NY paper

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - Hearst Newspapers has named George R. Hearst III, a great-grandson of the Hearst Corp. founder, as publisher of the Times Union of Albany as part of a sweeping reorganization of upper management.

Hearst succeeds Mark Aldam, who will oversee eight daily newspapers and six Connecticut weeklies as a senior vice president of Hearst Newspapers.

John DeAugustine, circulation director of the Times Union, becomes publisher of the Connecticut Post in Bridgeport, succeeding Robert Laska, who retired.

Michelle McAbee, general manager of the Hearst-owned Brooks Community Newspapers in Fairfield, Conn., will take on the additional role of publisher of The Advocate of Stamford and Greenwich Time, succeeding John Dunster, who's leaving the company.
