Reno, Nev. - Each week, we're taking you inside a local business that's doing well here in our community.
This week's business, Swill, opened recently.
Customer Linda Shoenberger goes to Swill every morning. They know her name and her order.
"I come here everyday because it's comfortable, and they're very nice, coffee's wonderful," said Shoenberger.
Monica Grashius recently opened Swill, and its already taking on a role as a gathering place in the community.
"We're starting to build relationships with our customers, you know, you kind of know what's happening in their lives, what's going on with work, or their families," said Grashius.
The business is locally owned, and that means just about everything else here is local, too, from the coffee beans roasted here at The Hub, to the art that's for sale on the walls.
"I think it's important to honor and treasure those small businesses that, you know, are really making an effort," said Grashius.
And at Swill, each cup of coffee is made by a skilled barista.
They grind the beans and make the coffee right when you put in your order, to make the coffee as fresh as possible. The baristas even poor it a special way, to make what they refer to as 'latte art.'
As for the name, Swill, it means to eat and drink greedily, but it also has a special meaning for the owner.
"My grandmother used to use the term all the time," said Grashius.
And customers say they'll come back to Swill again and again.
"We really like coming here," said Katie Ingram, a customer. "It's nice, meeting friends, just hanging out."
"She's done a nice job - it's way different that any other place I've ever been," said Shoenberger.
Swill also serves wine and beer in the evenings.
Swill is located at 3366 Lakeside Court in Reno. You can reach them by calling (775) 823-9876.
