UNITED NATIONS (AP) - Ukraine's foreign minister says today's vote in the U.N. General Assembly shows that "the world is united and Russia is isolated."

Despite Russia's considerable clout in the U.N., the General Assembly today affirmed Ukraine's territorial integrity, and declared that the referendum that led to Russia's annexation of Crimea was illegal.

The vote was 100 countries in favor, 11 opposed and 58 abstentions, with 24 other countries not voting at all. Both sides had lobbied hard ahead of the vote.

Ukraine's foreign minister says the support came from "all corners of the world" -- which he says shows that it's "not only a regional matter but a global one."

But Russia's U.N. ambassador says it was a "moral victory" for Russian diplomacy, pointing out that nearly half of the U.N. members refused to vote "yes." He said an increasing number of countries are starting to see what he called "the complexity of the situation."
