US Attorney General Meets with Caribbean Leaders

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (AP) - U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder has met with Caribbean leaders at a rare summit in Haiti.

The U.S. official wrapped up a quick trip Monday following a meeting with Haitian President Michel Martelly at a hotel conference for mostly English-speaking Caribbean nations.

They spoke about crime in the region, efforts to curb weapons trafficking and a need to alert Caribbean nations about imminent deportations.

Martelly has served as chair of the Caricom group since January and will hold the title for six months. It's the first time ever for Haiti to host the conference, which ends Tuesday.

Holder leaves Monday afternoon for St. Thomas, Virgin Islands.
