TOLUCA, Mexico (AP) - President Barack Obama says the United States has every incentive to make its borders with Canada and Mexico more efficient.
Obama says he and the leaders of the two neighboring countries have been focused on improving their economies through trade. He says they want to make sure any trade frictions are released.
Obama was speaking to North American business, civil society and education leaders after private meetings with the Canadian and Mexican heads of state at a summit outside Mexico City.
He said the long peaceful borders that mark North America are a "precious gift" and unique throughout the world. He also said the leaders talked about how to encourage student exchanges to strengthen ties between their nations.
