JURAIN, Bangladesh (AP) - Dozens of garment workers in Bangladesh have been buried in a mass funeral -- workers whose bodies were too battered or decomposed to be identified.

They were among the more than 400 people who were killed when the eight-story building where they worked toppled down last week. Hundreds attended today's traditional Muslim funeral.

One woman rushed through the crowd to the back of a truck. She wailed that one of the bodies was her sister's, and she begged to take it. Family members held on to her to keep her from collapsing.

After a Muslim prayer for the dead, 34 bodies were unloaded and placed in graves. Workers at the cemetery have dug several long rows of graves, expecting to bury scores of other unidentified bodies in the coming days.

In Washington, a State Department spokesman says businesses operating in the building appeared to have links to numerous companies in the United States and Europe. He says the department will "continue to engage with U.S. companies to discuss what role they can play in improving conditions."
