OTTAWA, Ontario (AP) - Police have charged a musician who plays the drums in Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper's band with five counts of sexual assault and five of sexual interference with a minor.
Phillip Nolan, who is also a teacher in Ottawa, Ontario, was charged in connection with incidents dating back to 1998 and 2000.
Police said Thursday that they started an investigation last November looking at a complaint of sexual assault on a minor by a teacher.
They say there are concerns there may be other victims.
A spokesman for Harper said the Prime Minister's Office is "shocked and disturbed" by the charges and had not been made aware of any such allegations.
Nolan was the drummer for Harper's band, Herringbone.
