TRIPOLI, Libya (AP) - The spokesman for Libya's prosecutor general says the last prime minister under ousted dictator Moammar Gadhafi will be put on trial for crimes allegedly committed under the former regime.
Al-Baghdadi al-Mahmoudi was extradited from Tunisia, where he fled in September 2011, after the fall of Tripoli to rebel forces.
After he spent eight months in detention, Tunisia agreed to extradite him to Libya, despite warnings from rights groups that he could face death or torture in Libya.
Adel Baara said Sunday the trial of al-Mahmoudi would begin Monday in Tripoli's criminal court. He said al-Mahmoudi is facing charges regarding his role in a number of cases during the civil war, as well as undermining the country's security. He did not give further details.
