SANTIAGO, Chile (AP) - An earthquake has shaken the Chilean capital, causing people to flee into the streets, but there are no initial reports of damage.
The University of Chile says the quake had a magnitude of 5.7 and took place at 2:22 p.m. (1:22 p.m. EST; 1722 GMT). It was centered about 50 miles (84 kilometers) from Santiago and 4 miles (6 kilometers) from the city of Los Andes.
A magnitude-8.8 quake and tsunami in central Chile in February 2010 killed more than 500 people.
